Two things I read this week juxtaposed interestingly. First, this quote from Hannah Farver’s Twitter:
“Love of self is slavery; love of others is freedom.” – Martin Luther
Then, this interesting piece of research by Martin Seligman, the father of positive psychology (which I read, randomly enough, in Madison Magazine):
“In experiments, Seligman gave participants the option of doing something fun or doing something philanthropic. Afterward, each scored their happiness. Time and again, participants got more happy vibes from doing something nice for others.”
So apparently, serving others is a sure route to both freedom and happiness.
